Kaarel Tammiste

Kaarel is the long-time head of the legal department at Eesti Energia AS. Kaarel believes that good legal advice is not only about the right answer, but about a clear path to resolving a complex situation. For ten years he followed this principle while leading various projects at Eesti Energia AS – the last four of them as head of the group’s legal department.

His practice is broad: electricity market law, company law (good corporate governance, incorporating companies, mergers and divisions), advising on financial transactions, public procurement, employment law, competition law and data protection. This experience gives him the ability to see problems more broadly – from the perspective of both a lawyer and a business.

Among the larger projects he has advised on, the most notable are the IPO of Enefit Green AS, the acquisition of Nelja Energia AS by Eesti Energia AS, the issue of Eesti Energia AS’s green bonds and the exit from the Swedish energy market – all complex transactions spanning several areas of law.
